Blog Post Title One

Well this is the first one, the first blog post of my “blogging career”, it’s only taken me nearly a year to write it. Sure, I can check the boxes on all the other parts of putting together a blog, but the post part is probably the most important - and therefore it has been the part which has intimidated me the most.

I’m good at planning, I created a blog post structure, have topics at the ready, but sitting down to write, nah I never seem to have the time. Until now, until my Amazon affiliate link application was rejected for not securing 3 purchases in 180 days. Six months. I let it sit and fester for six months, and the rejection was the kick I needed to actually write something down. Huh, motivation & the mind are strange things.

So, this first post, it’s going to be a softball, mainly for me, I need to build up my confidence because once this thing is out there, I don’t think readers will wait 6 months between posts, I mean I’m not releasing new iPhones here, I am sure people are not going to be THAT excited.

This first post is about XXXX. And to give you a bit of a preview of how, right now, I plan to make this magic come together, here are my thoughts on my “blog post structure” or the magic that hopefully will keep you coming back wanting more.

  1. The hook - draw em’ in. For this one it’s this rambling nonsense, so how is it working, you still with me?

  2. The inspiration - I rarely have my own ideas, but instead draw on inspiration from others. I truly appreciate the quote “Good artist copy, great artist steal”, so much so that when I was in 5th grade I needed to draw something in class, I couldn’t think of anything - more so I couldn’t commit to an idea (not uncommon for me) so I saw what someone else was drawing, used the idea and took my own spin on it. Well in the true nature of girls of elementary age my “friends” decided I had copied the idea and began referring to me as “Kelly the copy cat” complete with a cute hand gesture where they put their fingers up to their faces like cat ears. Not a great look for a young girl trying to fit in. Don’t worry this has come up in therapy, I am sure somewhere I have some deep-rooted feeling about my self-confidence because of this tragic event - but I digress.

The inspiration - where the idea for the project came from (be it Pinerest, a problem that needed to be solved, an artist I “stole” or rather was inspired by or the belief that doing it myself will turn out just as well as paying someone else).

  3. The cost, time, materials, etc. needed for me (key point here) to do the project. You will soon find out I sometimes try to rush, or cut corners, usually with good intentions. Sometimes this helps the project, sometimes it adds extra cost and/or time. This is where I make my mistakes and will bubble up the things that did work - so you don’t have to go through all the trial and error bits I did. I also will post some affliate links in this section - which kind of makes me feel like a sleezy salesmen, but really it’s just meant to help you get to the materials faster, and for me to make some pennies on the dollars you spend buying things you probably already would from Amazon. It’s meant to be a win-win not me trying to scam out of a dollar, I promise I’m not like that.

  4. The process & the outcome - I’ll take you through the steps of how I created the end product, so that maybe it will inspire you to try the project out yourself.

  5. The outcome - I’ll tell you what worked and what didn’t - or if nothing worked, I’ll be honest and say that too. I will give each project a few key ratings - pass/fail, DIY it or Buy it, some kind of level of difficulty rating and enjoyment factor.

The hook - draw em in to keep reading.

The inspiration - where did the need for this idea come from.

The cost, time commitment, and materials list (affliate links here please!)

The process - walk me through the steps.

The outcome. Sucess or failure?

So that’s it, that’s the formula for the blog - you still here with me? If so, THANKS let’s continue onto the first project of what will hopefully be many.

Best,
Kelly
